Maybe to raise awareness we should start reaching out to people on social media who could get the word out? some people who are nerdy or superhero fans, or even news services on youtube could really help.

Definitely!

The plan is to raise more money, make ourselves look like a dedicated and determined fanbase, and with a larger amount of money, we can get coverage from other news sites and other types of social media and hopefully get things to spread and get more money coming in :D

There is a method to our madness!

I don't know if you know this yet, but the next Star Wars show will be after episode 3 with clone wars characters and Greg Weisman at it's helm, making it the best of both worlds.

Weekend of Action!

Attention Fandoms:

We’ve spent the past few weeks debating, researching, and questioning whether or not to trust SMGO. Now that all concerns have been addressed, it’s time to put your money where your mouth is. Things have been moving very slowly lately, but we hope to change that very soon.

First off, I propose the five biggest animated show fandoms relying on SMGO start working together. These are the Young Justice, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Motorcity, Tron: Uprising, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars Fandom.

Our aim this weekend (May 24th-27th) is get any of these shows that are still in the voting phase as close to 100% as possible. The YJ and GLTAS fandoms have already contributed over 300 votes to Tron and will continue to vote and spread the word. We will also start voting for Star Wars as it has recently been added to the SMGO page.

The second objective of this weekend is to get Young Justice, which is currently in the funding phase, to $100,000 (preferably even higher). Yes, this is nowhere near the $10 million goal but we are hoping that if we can get pledges to rise quickly enough during a short span of time, we will be able to attract some media attention.

Even if you have never seen an episode of Young Justice, please consider pledging. If it fails, it is very unlikely that any other show will have a chance of entering the funding phase. Also, rest assured that when the time comes, we will show you the same generosity that you showed us.

With five fandoms working towards saving each show, the average pledge per series can afford to be lower and we’ll reach our goals faster. Together, I am confident that we’ll be able to bring back all our shows.

YJFanVids started on May 6th 2011!

Okay so I’m about a week and a half late, but it’s my own celebration so I’m excused. And technically the tumblr started on the 20th, so I am early for that.

But yeah! This wonderful idea sprouted one morning and then the rest is history! Or not, but I don’t think there’s anyone interested in the actual extensive history so I’ll spare you guys. But that doesn’t mean you guys escape the mushy-ish thank you’s.

I really do want to thank each and every single one of you, and I wish I could, but dumblr does enough with eating my asks and the hourly limit.

So I’ll just take the time now to thank everyone that stuck around since the beginning, the people that offered incredibly awesome advice and ways to better this repository and helped out when I was busy, all the editors that agreed to be part of this, the people that I’ve met through this tumblr and youtube channel, because I’ve made some very awesome friends through here that I’m very fortunate to have met, and of course to all the people that clicked the little follow button and/or subscribe button.

I’ll be totally honest I still get astounded every time I see number go up, because this turned into something much much bigger than I originally imagined, but really, I wouldn’t change a thing. Well, maybe one or two, but really:

Some of you might have seen the post I put out yesterday when I tried to get a headcount of how many YJ and GLTAS fans are left on Tumblr. Not counting the likes and reblogs, I got around 200 responses. I realize that not every fan on Tumblr probably responded to it, but when you compare that to the numbers we used to have a month or two ago, it’s a little disheartening.

Obviously, we expected to lose at least some of the fans. We made a crucial misstep when many of us fell silent while waiting for WB’s decision. I know I’m personally guilty of this. Afterwards, some of the fans came back and started to regroup but many continued to remained silent.

A few weeks after we first started the campaign, I saw a lot of people start to give up because they didn’t think it would take so long to bring our shows back. I remember asking them not to give up hope, because I honestly thought we stood a very good chance. Our numbers were high, people were enthusiastic, and we hadn’t experienced true failure yet.

Now that we don’t have any of those advantages, I have to admit, I’m a little scared. I understand, people are busy and they have finals and job searches to worry about. I have a lot on my plate too. But it seemed like fans were willing to make more time to help, back when they thought it would actually make a difference. It makes me wonder if we’ve lost too much to actually get this campaign to succeed.

I know we’ve been emphasizing the fact that SMGO isn’t our only option. To be perfectly realistic, I’m not even sure if that’s true anymore. Our methods didn’t get CN or WB to budge before and that was when our fandoms were a lot stronger. Those same methods aren’t going to work now unless something drastically changes.

The purpose of this post wasn’t to admit defeat or to announce that I was giving up on the fandoms. In fact, it’s just the opposite. I wanted to address something that I felt was holding our efforts back in hopes that the fandoms would become more aware of this problem and do something to fix it.

I still believe we have a chance. There may be less of us, but that just means those of us who are left have to fight harder. Everyone has to be proactive, not just the major blog runners. Reblogging or liking a post isn’t enough, especially when you don’t actually read or do what the poster is asking you to do. You can also try to come up with original ideas, yourself, or help get more fans to join us.

There are at least 200 of us left. Yes, it might not be a lot but it’s still enough to make a difference. I’m definitely not ready to give up yet and I hope you aren’t either.

Come on guys! We can’t give up yet! We’ve still got a chance to fight, and I think we can do it!!

We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but we’ve got to keep going!

However, I’ve been in communication with the OP for a while now and I do know his full name. I looked him up and he checks out and definitely works for PayPal for anyone who has any concerns on that front.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s noticed that the YJ and GLTAS tags are significantly quieter these days compared to when the new episodes were airing. I was just wondering how many fans were still here. If you guys wouldn’t mind indulging my curiosity, can you please answer this post with the fandom you belong to? Also, please make sure that each individual only contributes one note to this post…so even if you have multiple accounts, just use one to respond. I’d really like to get an accurate headcount. This may seem completely left field for the YJ and GLTAS fandoms but hear me out. Since most of our questions about SMGO will be answered this week with the release of the PayPal statement and the upcoming Q&A session, we’ve started planning an event for this weekend that we hope will help bring in a lot of pledges. More details will be released within the next days, but an important part of our campaign will be dependent on other fandoms connected to SMGO helping us out. One such fandom is Tron: Uprising and we want to show them that, when the time comes, we’ll help them as long as they help us out now. So head over to the site and vote for Tron. Make sure to ask others to vote too!

P.S. The show’s on Netflix for anyone who wants to check it out. It looks beautifully animated and, as a few reliable sources have mentioned, it has a great storyline. I checked out the pilot today and it does look pretty amazing!

Yes! Please do vote for this show guys, the storyline and the characters are totally amazing, and let me tell you, it’s another show that really needs more episodes for closure, so help a fellow fandom out!

Just an idea, but I think we should look into NetFlix as a possible means for a third season of YJ. They just picked up 15 episodes for a season 4 of Arrested Development after it had been cancelled 6 years ago. If fan outcry is strong enough, who knows?

See I think the problem is that Arrested Development had a bigger, more adult fanbase, not to mention that it’s an original show, not owned by two [or three depending on how you look at it] big huge conglomerates that own every single aspect of the show.

Tagging all the relevant fandoms I can think of in this because it’s pertinent to everyone. I’m gonna have to change my icon again at this rate.

In the past few days I have been exchanging emails with Dave from SMGO after I made my breakdown post and he requested that I give some input into more efficient ways to release info and bolster confidence. In addressing the need for a statement from PayPal, I received the following:

I just had lunch with the new account manager for us, and he’s going to do a few things to help. First thing he said he’s going to do is try to get us on their app gallery - so our logo on their website as a company they’re working with (should be pretty much irrefutable at that point ).

However, that’s going to take a little time because they’re re-doing it and combining it with x.com’s app gallery (maybe a month). Not useful right now. So, he’s also going to let a limited number of people (1 or 2) talk to him directly. I would like one of those people to be you.

Simply put? The statement from PayPal will be coming through me.

I’ve had limited correspondence with the other party(ies) involved in this process and I will leave it to them if they feel like announcing their involvement. I wanted to make sure that when I did have a confirmation from PayPal to share, it would not be coming from out of nowhere to you guys. If you’ve been looking for external validation of these guys, this is going to be it.

If you have any concerns about this my askbox is also open.
