New Image, Hi-Res Package Artwork For Upcoming “Young Justice: Legacy” Video Game

Oooh! So September 10th it is!

The new YJ:Legacy site is now open!

It seems they were referring to this week after all!

Anyway, of things to note in the new website:

  • The archaeologist that goes missing is one Helena Sandsmark, and if you’re connecting her with Wonder Girl, Cassie Sandsmark, you’d be correct, as the archaeologist is her mother, at least in the comics.
  • You can get a nice overview of the playable characters, character turns and everything, but we still don’t know who the 12th villain is. Oh, and if you’re up for it, go check out Tim’s description, a nice mention of Jason Todd.

And I think that’s all that’s noted to mention! So go check it out!

YJ: Legacy

So, during E3, we’ve gotten loads more information on the game, so I’ll just summarize the important points.

Release Date: February 13, 2013

Platforms: PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS/ 3DS, [the Wii symbol’s on the YJ: Legacy page, but not mentioned elsewhere, so I’m a bit unclear].

Plot points: Takes place 4 years after the first season, there’ll be three characters per squad, though you can multi-player [and potentially online too?]. There’s 12 playable characters, plus 4 from DLC which features Season 2 characters that you can play too. The main mission’s to rescue a missing archaeologist, and the plot will be crucial to understanding what happened during the timeskip.

So, most of that info we probably already knew, but anyway! You can get most of the information on the YJ: Legacy facebook page, where they’ve shared articles of interest :D The latest one is right here.

So I was lucky enough to go to E3 this year and I decided to drop by the Little Orbit booth! Unfortunately I missed Greg and Brandon by an hour but they were inside the booth and only press were allowed inside. The booth itself was a little sad looking because the images from YJ were all blown up and pixelated.

The game is still in its early production and there were a lot of glitches when I played. Everyone was running really slowly and some of the battle moves were poorly animated. The screenshots released online are definitely better than the prototype at E3 but there wasn’t anything drawing me to buy the game. I hope by next year, the graphics and the gameplay improve because the demo left a lot to be desired.

There weren’t any cutscenes or dialogue in the prototype but even the menu looked really cheap. The only bad guy I got to fight against was Bane and even he was glitchy and annoying. But it is a spinoff game so I wasn’t expecting much in the first place.

My favorite move has to be Artemis’ rain of arrows, too bad it doesn’t aim at the bad guy I’m trying to defeat. This is as much as I got from the producer of the game and the other helpers at the booth: (they weren’t told much and they’re not allowed to discuss much in the first place)

  • Story takes place during year 4 during the time skip
  • We find out exactly what causes Kaldur to switch sides
  • Some info about how Supermartian broke up
  • Red Arrow is MIA because of his mission to find Speedy

It’s not much but we still have about 8 months before the game is out and I don’t even want to think about the hiatus. For now, I’m just going to enjoy the recent spoilers from Depths and just watch that Spitfire scene over and over until the episode premieres.

Well, I’m sure the gameplay will get better soon, since it only is now in its early stages :) But this seems really interesting so far!

We learned a bit more about Young Justice: Legacy…

jokerofish:

The game focuses on what is initially a search for a missing archeologist, but turns into something much bigger. The mission takes team members to locations such as Greece and Siberia for this major event, and eventually involves members of the Justice League.

So… who in the DC universe is an archaeologist…?

Hmm, interesting! Missing archaeologist, it would explain the ruins setting for the images.

Also, just to add something I found in their facebook page:

E3 Announcement: We’ve added a 3DS version of the game to our line-up. And for those interested in something that plays on their computer, we have also previously mentioned that Young Justice: Legacy will have a PC version as well.

PC version! Woo! [yes I’m the crazy one that doesn’t own a gaming system :P]

Looks like we got our team for the game!

So now they’re all changed to their future counterparts, except those three that we haven’t seen yet! So, I think we can expect them to either change as their future selves are revealed [aka, they’re all alive] like they did with the other members.

And interesting that they don’t reveal one villain, someone we know perhaps? And Klarion looks positively evil in that drawing, though I still can’t take the dude seriously.

So, speculate!
